At just 23 years of age, Carmel Rodrigues is thrilled to be making her professional musical theatre debut in Hairspray. Born to parents with Portuguese, Indian and European heritage and raised in Sydney’s North Shore, Carmel has always loved performing from a young age and has spent the majority of her life to date singing, acting and dancing up a storm.
In 2016, she made her first foray into the spotlight as a semi-finalist on season five of Ch 9’s The Voice where she was coached by Jessie J and the Madden Brothers.
Carmel is a recent graduate of the Sydney Acting School and has also trained at the Australian Institute of Music. She also has worked closely with Sharon & Christine Muscat of Sister 2 Sister School of Singing over the last eight years as a student and more recently, a member of their teaching staff.
And in what is the ultimate full circle moment, Carmel also played the role of Tracy Turnblad in her high school production of Hairspray, so is very excited to be introducing herself to audiences across Australia with a role so close to her heart!
Asabi is a Brisbane-based performer with over 40 years’ experience in vocal and stage performance. Her most recent credits include Once On This Island and the upcoming greatly anticipated Baz Luhrmann feature film, Elvis.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California, where she was a founding member of the award-winning, all female a cappella group, The USC Sirens, and an Advanced Diploma in Stage and Screen Acting from the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory in Brisbane. Asabi is a proud MEAA member and has served as the Queensland Branch President since 2019.
Originally from Toowoomba, Sean is a recent graduate of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, completing a Bachelor of Musical Theatre.
While at the Conservatorium, Sean was a member of the Ensemble in Les Misérables and performed the roles of: Quick Lamb in Cloud Street, Bobby in The Boy Friend, Warner in Legally Blonde, Dick in Street Scene and Danny in Grease. Also, during this time, he played Charlie Price in Kinky Boots at Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre.
Since graduating, Sean has reprised his role of Danny in Grease at QPAC, performed the role of Sky in Mamma Mia! (The Show Co.), was a featured vocalist in The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols (Riverstage, Brisbane) and performed the role of The Writer in It’s Only Life (The Head Bros.).
Sean most recently performed in Jersey Boys, at The Star – Gold Coast, understudying Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio.

Donna Lee was born into a show business family. Her father, Frank Cleary was a Juggler, and her mother Gloria Dawn, was one of Australia’s foremost music theatre performers. NIDA has a scholarship known as “the Glorias” in her memory.
Donna’s Music Theatre credits include ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, ‘Gypsy’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Showboat’, ‘They’re Playing our Song’, ‘Oklahoma!’, ‘Snoopy the Musical’, ‘Dames at Sea’, ‘Summer Rain’, ‘Forbidden Broadway’, ‘Nunsense’, ‘Hello Dolly’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Anything Goes’, ‘Menopause the Musical’, ‘Beauty & the Beast’ and ‘Half Time’, to name a few. Her performance as Ado Annie in ‘Oklahoma!’ won her a Green Room Award. Since then she has been nominated for her roles as Madame Thenardier in ‘Les Miserables’, and the Dubbo Housewife in ‘Menopause the Musical’. Donna also recieved Mo Award nomination for her performance as Ms Darbus in ‘High School Musical’.
Donna is an established cabaret performer and has been honoured with 2 Mo Awards for her cabaret work as well as an ACE Award nomination for Versatile Variety Performer.
Her tribute show ‘Donna Lee Sings Doris Day’ always plays to packed audiences, as well as her tribute show ‘Donna Lee Sings Petula Clark’ which won her a GLUG Award (Sydney Critics Award) for Best Cabaret Performance.
Todd is an actor of both stage and screen, and is especially well known to music theatre audiences for his many and varied roles. Since graduating from The University of Sydney, Todd has worked steadily in music theatre, often performing in Australian premieres of new work. Brianna is a Melbourne based actor, singer, dancer and musician and most recently appeared in the national tour of Chess The Musical for Storeyboard Entertainment.
As a young artist, Brianna trained and performed with Stage Masters and the Young Australian Broadway Chorus and was a grand finalist in the 2010 season of Australia’s Got Talent for the Seven Network. She studied acting at The National Theatre drama school and trained in Musical Theatre at National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). She graduated in 2017 and performed in Chimerica for Sydney Theatre Company directed by Kip Williams.
Brianna has travelled the world as a featured vocalist for Royal Caribbean Entertainment and played the role of Marty Maraschino (understudy Rizzo) in Grease the Musical and Novella in Columbus the Musical.
Brianna’s screen credits include the role of Ada the Nerd in Screen Australia’s feature film EMO the Musical directed by Neil Triffett and international award-winning short films The Disappearance of Fredrick Valentich and Words of a Teenage Writer directed by Luke Robson.
Ayanda Dladla is a Sydney born and raised electric presence that has been performing in the professional musical industry from the young age of 10 years old.She debuted the stage as Molly in Gordon Frost’s production of Annie in 2012.
Ayanda also performed in 2 Productions of Opera Australia’s South Pacific as Ngana (2012) alongside her Dad Nhlanhla Phewa – Dladla as Seabee Henry & Sister Tamaiah as alternate Ngana, with a return of the season in 2013. Just before South Pacific’s return to The Opera House Ayanda appeared in TML’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2012) Success in the theatre at a young age, was a dream when she could represent her South African heritage later in 2013 as young Nala in Disney’s The Lion King. Ayanda was also selected to continue to tour with the show completing the Brisbane season.
Most of Ayanda’s training had been refined through the practicality of her established professional career. She has also trained at the Australian Performing Arts Grammar School & Village Nation, which led her onstage again to The Royal Shakespeare’s Company’s production of Matilda as Alice in 2015
In 2017 at 16 years old Ayanda was one of the very few auditionees across NZ & AUS who was lucky enough to attend The Book of Mormon musical Singing Camp.She was flown out to Melbourne by the creative team, making her the youngest candidate to ever attend.
Hairspray is her triumphant return to the Theatre with a fun nostalgic twist as she had starred in Packemin Productions Hairspray in 2013 alongside Wayne Scott Kermond, Cle Morgan & Jon English as none other than Little Inez at just 11 years old!
Ayanda is truly delighted to be returning to the stage, making this role her keen debut as an Adult in the Theatre Industry.
Originally from Perth, Mackenzie is a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She was most recently seen in A Chorus Line as Judy (Darlinghurst Theatre Company). Prior to this, Mackenzie workshopped the leading role of Sophie Parker for the exciting new Australian musical, WAGS. Her other theatre credits include Princess Fiona understudy in Shrek The Musical (The Gordon Frost Organisation), Francine in Jersey Boys (New Theatricals), Evelyn Nesbit in the Australian premiere of Ragtime (The Production Company), Thoroughly Modern Millie (The Production Company), Lazarus (The Production Company), Bubba Ryan in Summer of the Seventeenth Doll (Black Swan STC), and Squeaky Fromme in Assassins (Black Swan STC). In 2018 she won Best Newcomer in Theatre/Performing Arts Awards Western Australia for her performances with The Black Swan State Theatre Company. Mackenzie can be seen as Bobby in the new ABC/Netflix comedy series Why Are You Like This?.
Jamonté is groovin’ into his International touring debut! He is a graduate from the University of Central Florida in the U.S. With a BFA in Musical Theatre (Go Knights! ’20). Jamonté has appeared in the 2021 US Broadway National Tour of Hairspray as Duane and Seaweed J. Stubbs; additional credits include Smokey Joe’s Café (Victor), Hot Mikado (Katisha), Sister Act (TJ), and has collaborated with RWS Entertainment Group as a Singer/Dancer. Sienna Embrey is a performer based in Melbourne, Australia. Whilst she has been training in dance since she could first walk, her passion for musical theatre started at Boyd Dance Academy over 13 years ago. There, she become proficient in various styles of voice and dance, eventually travelling to America to perform in televised events in both Chicago and L.A. Sienna is a recent graduate of Patrick School of the Arts musical theatre program under the direction of Andrew Hallsworth and Todd Patrick. She recently starred in their Graduate Musical “The Boy From Oz” as Liza Minelli and was the lead vocalist in the original cast of “Melbourne Follies”. “Hairspray” is Sienna’s professional debut and she is overjoyed to be a member of such a joyful and uplifting show.

Zoe graduated from NIDA with a Diploma in Musical Theatre. Zoe has most recently Zoe starred as Rose in Dubbo Championship Wrestling (the Hayes Theatre). In 2020 Zoe featured in the musical version of The Bridges of Madison County (Matthew Management/Neil Gooding Productions), playing the role of Carolyn. Prior to this, Zoe toured Australia and internationally in West Side Story (Opera Australia/GWB Entertainment) as Rosalia, alternating the role of Maria. Prior to West Side Story, Zoe understudied the role of Dorothy for the Australian tour of The Wizard of Oz (Gordon Frost Organisation/Suzanne Jones). Other credits include Big Fish at the Hayes Theatre (RPG Productions) and Pepper in Annie (Gordon Frost Organisation). Zoe featured on Disney Playhouse and also played the on-going guest role of Paige in the ABC TV series Dance Academy.
Zoe has been a semi-finalist for the Rob Guest Endowment in both 2016 and 2018. She has also performed alongside iconic musician James Morrison as a vocal soloist. Other performance credits include Woolworths’ Carols in the Domain, Australian Diving Championships, The Lord Mayor’s Picnic, New Year’s Eve at Hyde Park and New Year’s Eve at the Domain.
Originally from Ballarat, Todd trained at BBC Studios before venturing off to tour the world performing as a Guest Entertainer aboard Royal Caribbean, Princess, Cunard, Oceania, Holland America, and Celebrity Cruise Lines.
Most notably, he performed the iconic role of Tony to great acclaim in the Australian and International tour of West Side Story (Opera Australia/GWB/BB Group), and most recently performed in the national tour of Disney’s Frozen The Musical, understudying the role of Hans, (Disney Theatrical Australia).

Savannah made her professional debut at the age of 14 in ‘Annie the Musical’ before graduating high school and completing the Diploma of Music Theatre at NIDA. She then went on to complete a further 3 years study at the VCA, receiving her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts Music Theatre. During her time there she performed in Morning Melodies as a featured soloist, Flora the Red Menace and On The Town. Whilst at the VCA she received the Nancye Hayes Scholarship which she used to undertake further study in New York. In 2022 she made her professional adult debut In ‘The Who’s Tommy’ With Victorian Opera and is very excited to be part of the cast of ‘Hairspray’.
Madeleine’s extensive list of credits include Darlinghurst Theatre’s recent production of A Chorus Line (Maggie) and the Sydney Season of 9 to 5 (swing). She was Female Dance & Fight Captain for the Australasian tour of Disney’s Aladdin before taking up the position of Resident Choreographer. Other credits include World Premier season of Georgy Girl, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic production of Love Never Dies including the film version, the 10th Anniversary Tour of Mamma Mia, the Donmar Warehouse production of Guys and Dolls, and West Side Story, Promises Promises and Guys and Dolls for The Production Company, Michael Ralph’s Hollywood Honky Tonk, Company (Kathy) for Watch This and originating the role of ‘Selina’ in the play Kindred for GoldFish Films. Anna is a Melbourne-based singer, dancer, actor and most recently appeared in Victorian Opera’s The Who’s Tommy, directed by Roger Hodgman.
Anna completed the Foundation Program at Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and continued on to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Music Theatre in 2021. During her graduating year she performed in a self-devised project Mongrel, dir. Maude Davey, played Alice in The Hello Girls, dir. Jason Langley, played the role of Helene in Sweet Charity, dir. Jayde Kirchert and featured in the Showcase, dir. Tyran Parke.
Anna has appeared with various music artists and performs as an official Team Member for the NBL, Melbourne United Basketball Club and previously NRL, Melbourne Storm. Other performing credits include corporate events with Crown Entertainment, Nickelodeon, MCG, Caulfield Cup, Myer, Skechers, AFL and Disney Plus.

NYA — is a multi-faceted performing artist based in NYC. They are excited to be part of this wonderful cast. Nya has built a performing and music career that has allowed them to travel the world, garnering numerous awards internationally as a vocalist, actress, musician, and dancer. Apart from being known for his Afro-Caribbean dance, Voguing and Ballroom, Tony also trains in Hiphop and Contemporary dance as he believes acquiring different styles enables him to embody different movement qualities. Tony represents the street dance crew Riddim Nation, which he has competed and won numerous dance battles with, he was also an invited performer for Happy Hour curated by Nick Power at Readymade Works Inc. Recently, Tony had won the Redbull Dance Your Style 2021 National Qualifiers, and made his musical debut as Richie in A Chorus Line at Sydney Opera House. Tony is constantly striving to prove that as difficult as it is, it is possible to make a living with something you’re truly passionate about, and the love for the artform makes it all worth it. “I need to work as hard as I can to be an inspiring artist, so that I can push anyone who has ever doubted themselves.”
Morgan originally trained in classical ballet as child before progressing into theatre. He graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theatre and upon graduation made his professional debut in the 2016 production of We Will Rock You (GFO). Morgan was then cast in the 2017 Australian premiere of the multiple award-winning musical The Book of Mormon (GFO) as Swing before taking over the role of Elder Harris/Pop Tarts, playing over a thousand performances across Australia and New Zealand until the show’s closure in 2020. He was also a finalist for the 2017 Rob Guest Endowment. Most recently, Morgan was due to appear as Edgar in Qween Lear (ALG/Sydney Festival) and ensemble in Cry Baby (LPD & Sydney Opera House), both of which were cancelled due to Covid. Morgan is a proud MEAA member and is beyond thrilled to finally be returning to the stage!
Kristin Paulse is a South African born, singer-songwriter and actress based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Her recent performing credits include, Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors (Court Theatre), Gloria in Madagascar the Musical (GMG Productions NZ) and her highlight performance as Tina Turner in Showtime Australia’s New Zealand tour of the tribute show, TINA: Simply the Best.
Outside musical theatre, Kristin is an R&B artist under the stage name, KRISTN with the release of her first single, Seasons on all streaming platforms. She is also the lead singer-songwriter of her duo band, Citris iNK, making their debut with their first single, Knowing You’re Mine, on all streaming platforms.
Caitlin graduated the VCA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre). Singing classically from the age of nine her professional debut was creating the title role of Clarice in Women in War, A Contemporary Opera which toured both Greece and Australia. Other theatre credits include Brigadoon (The Production Company), Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet (China Tour), Rolling Thunder Vietnam (Australian Tour) Rossini’s La Cenerentola, The Girlie Show, Harvey Milk the Opera, Nine and Li’l Abner. She was also a 2016 Rob Guest Semi Finalist. Caitlin recently turned her hand to writing and producing with short films such as Cactus and Mime and shows such as Purgastory, and the award-winning Cactus and the Mime. In 2019 she started SPEARS ENTERTAINMENT launching the company with the successful Everything’s Coming Up Sondheim and later critically reviewed The Music of the Night, with guest star Debra Byrne. Caitlin would like to thank her family and friends for their incredible support over the years, and her amazing agents at Mollison Keightley Management.
Harry is a graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), completing both a Certificate IV and a Bachelor of Arts.
In 2019, Harry was the recipient of the Leslie Anderson Showcase Award for Musical Theatre. Harry’s Musical Theatre credits include the leading role Scott Hastings in Strictly Ballroom and Drew Boley in Rock of Ages. In 2015, Harry appeared in a regional tour with The Fairies, as the Elf. Harry’s most recent credit includes the iconic production of A Chorus Line playing the role of Don Kerr at Parramatta Riverside Theatre and Sydney Opera House.
Harry has extensive training in dancing, acrobatics and both classical / contemporary singing.
Gabriyel is an American who is thrilled to be performing in “The Land Downunder”.
